Eclipse

Synopsis

Eclipses have historically been viewed as supernatural omens, often associated with disaster and divine messages, particularly in ancient cultures like the Mesopotamians, who believed eclipses foretold the fate of their kings. Over time, the interpretation of eclipses has evolved, with modern astrology considering them as catalysts for change, influencing personal and national charts. Astrologers examine the aspects formed by eclipses to understand their potential impacts, noting their ability to obscure certain life areas while bringing hidden issues to light.

In September, two significant eclipses—the total lunar eclipse in Pisces and the partial solar eclipse in Virgo—offer a blend of emotional introspection and practical reorganization. The lunar eclipse invites emotional healing and spiritual exploration, while the solar eclipse encourages setting new goals and focusing on self-improvement. Together, these events promote a holistic approach to personal development.

The month begins with a rare mini grand trine involving Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, signaling transformative opportunities. This alignment, last seen in 1504, emphasizes innovation, intuition, and deep transformation. The conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 0 degrees Aries, occurring in 2026, marks a significant astrological event, symbolizing new beginnings and societal shifts. This conjunction, along with Uranus retrograde in Taurus, encourages introspection and challenges existing norms, fostering personal and collective evolution.

Generational shifts are prompting a re-evaluation of long-held beliefs, as the line between reality and fantasy blurs. As we approach the Autumnal Equinox and other celestial events, there is a call to seek inner solace and clarity amidst the transformative changes, embracing the potential for growth and renewal.

The earliest observers of eclipses viewed them as supernatural or of ominous significance, often interpreting them as disruptions of the natural or divine order. Most societies lacked scientific explanations, prompting reactions that ranged from profound fear to elaborate ritual action aimed at appeasing the perceived wrath of celestial forces. Across many cultures—including the Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Mesopotamians, Incas, and Aztecs—eclipses were commonly seen as bad omens, foretelling disaster, war, famine, or the death of a ruler. The ancient Mesopotamians, for instance, held a particularly intense belief in the connection between eclipses and the fate of their kings. They believed that these celestial events were direct messages from the gods, signaling impending doom or misfortune for their leaders. This belief prompted them to conduct intricate rituals, such as the substitution of a stand-in king, who would temporarily assume the throne to protect the actual ruler from the perceived dangers indicated by the eclipse. Such practices underscore the profound intertwining of celestial events with political power and social stability in ancient societies.

Over time, the meaning and significance of eclipses have evolved considerably, becoming an integral part of astrological analysis and interpretation. In modern astrology, eclipses are not merely seen as omens but are viewed as powerful catalysts for change and transformation. They are utilized in both personal astrology, through an individual's birth chart, and in mundane astrology, which examines the astrological influences on countries or political leaders. By superimposing the eclipse degrees of either a solar or lunar eclipse onto a natal chart or a chart of a nation, astrologers can discern specific areas of a person's life or a country's political landscape that may be directly impacted by the energies of the eclipse. This method allows for a nuanced understanding of how these celestial events resonate within an individual’s experiences or the broader socio-political climate.

In its most basic interpretation, what an astrologer looks for are aspects from the eclipse to natal planets (or, in mundane astrology, a country or president's planet placements), with conjunctions or oppositions being the most significant indicators of influence. If there are no planets situated near the eclipse degrees, it is generally considered unlikely that the eclipse will have any substantial effect on the individual or entity in question. However, a few other important elements pertaining to eclipses must be considered. One notable characteristic of eclipses is their propensity to "obscure" the matters of the house or the themes related to the planets they aspect. This obscuration operates through the disruption of the energy associated with these planets and houses, making it challenging to manifest their agendas. Consequently, this can lead to delays in achieving goals, create feelings of frustration, or even result in situations that seem perpetually out of reach or destined to fail.

Additionally, eclipses possess the unique ability to "bring hidden things to light," particularly concerning the matters of the house they occupy and the planets they aspect. This often results in the revelation of issues that have been simmering beneath the surface, involving the energies of these planets and houses. Such revelations can include the unearthing of secrets, hidden emotions, or unresolved conflicts that have been previously obscured from view. When these matters come to light, they can be incredibly disruptive, leading to significant transformations in personal relationships, career paths, or even national policies. The intensity of these disruptions often correlates with the nature of the aspects formed by the eclipse, emphasizing the profound and far-reaching effects that eclipses can have on both individual lives and the collective human experience.

During the month of September, the celestial events are particularly noteworthy, as they will feature two significant eclipses that can profoundly influence various aspects of life on Earth. The first of these eclipses is a total lunar eclipse, commonly referred to as a blood moon, which will occur on September 7th at precisely 15:22 degrees in the sign of Pisces. This event is not just a visual spectacle; it carries deep astrological significance. The total lunar eclipse in Pisces invites a powerful wave of emotional release and introspection, as the energy of Pisces—being a water sign—encourages individuals to delve into their subconscious realms. It is a time for letting go of past emotional baggage, embracing healing, and exploring spiritual matters. The Piscean influence during this eclipse highlights themes of intuition, dreams, and psychic connections, making it an ideal moment for individuals to engage in practices that foster spiritual growth and emotional clarity. Those who are sensitive to energies may find themselves more attuned to the mystical and the unseen during this period, as the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds becomes thinner. The boundaryless insights associated with Pisces can lead to profound realizations and inspirations that transcend ordinary understanding, allowing for a deeper connection with one’s inner self and the universe.

Following this, on September 27th, a partial solar eclipse will take place at 29:05 degrees in the sign of Virgo. This eclipse, occurring in an earth sign, presents a contrasting energy to that of the preceding lunar eclipse in Pisces. Virgo is known for its analytical nature, attention to detail, and desire for order and structure. As the sign opposite to Pisces, Virgo emphasizes practicality and the tangible aspects of life. During this partial solar eclipse, individuals may feel a strong urge to organize their lives, set new goals, and focus on self-improvement. The energy of Virgo encourages a ritualistic approach to daily routines, making it an opportune time to reassess health and wellness practices, as well as to implement changes that promote a more balanced lifestyle. This eclipse may prompt individuals to evaluate their habits, seeking ways to enhance their physical and mental well-being. Additionally, the influence of Virgo can inspire meticulous planning and a focus on the details that often go unnoticed, enabling a clearer path toward achieving one’s aspirations.

In summary, the two eclipses in September create a dynamic interplay between the emotional, spiritual energies of Pisces and the practical, detail-oriented nature of Virgo. This unique combination invites individuals to explore both their inner worlds and the external structures that support their growth. The total lunar eclipse offers a chance for deep emotional healing and spiritual exploration, while the partial solar eclipse provides the impetus for practical action and self-improvement. Together, these celestial events encourage a holistic approach to personal development, blending the mystical with the practical in a harmonious dance of energies.

The Cosmic Dance
The Cosmic Dance

The month of September begins with an intriguing and dynamic interplay among the celestial bodies, specifically highlighting the cooperative dance between a Gemini Uranus in retrograde (Air Element), an Aries Neptune in retrograde (Fire Element), and an Aquarius Pluto in retrograde (Air Element). On September 1st, Uranus will be positioned in a sextile to Neptune, while simultaneously forming a trine to Pluto. Furthermore, Neptune will also be in a sextile relationship with Pluto. This triangular arrangement of what are often referred to as the "Gods of Change" is a remarkable way to usher in the month, setting the stage for transformative experiences and opportunities that could unfold as the days progress.

All three planets are situated at approximately 1° of their respective signs, which significantly amplifies the resonance of fresh and new cycles beginning to take shape. This particular configuration is sometimes referred to as a "minor triangle" or "mini grand trine," characterized by the harmonious 60° (sextile) and 120° (trine) angles that create a supportive framework for growth and development. Such a celestial arrangement is particularly noteworthy, as it is relatively rare, especially among the transpersonal planets that govern deeper societal changes and collective evolution. The last occurrence of this specific mini grand trine configuration took place briefly in 1978, when these planets came within close degrees at 17-18 degrees of Scorpio (Uranus), Sagittarius (Neptune), and Libra (Pluto). That alignment lasted for a mere 11 days, making it a fleeting but impactful moment in astrological history. However, the current mini grand trine is distinct because Aries (Neptune) is positioned precisely at the midpoint between Gemini (Uranus) and Aquarius (Pluto).

This particular aspect is known to manifest only once every 500 years, highlighting its rarity and significance. The last time Neptune found itself at the midpoint of Uranus and Pluto within such a triangular formation was in the year 1504, a period marked by its own unique challenges and transformations in human history. This rare astrological event invites individuals to reflect on the themes of innovation, intuition, and deep transformation that these planetary influences embody. As we navigate through the month, the energies of Gemini, Aries, and Aquarius may inspire a collective awakening, urging us to embrace change and explore new possibilities with courage and creativity. The harmonious relationships between these planets can foster a sense of unity and collaboration, encouraging us to work together towards shared goals and visions. Ultimately, the beginning of September serves as a powerful reminder of the cyclical nature of life and the potential for renewal that exists within each moment.

An additional twist to this rare formation is the fact that a Pisces Saturn in retrograde and at 29 degrees will be conjunct (less than 1 degree apart) the Aries Neptune in retrograde. This of course is a very significant conjunction that I have written a separate blog about which you can find here: The Collision of Bricks and Bubbles The conjunction energy in Aries is strongest from May 2025 to September 2025, and then again from early 2026 onward. The most "conjunct" energy—as in less than 3 degrees apart—lasts through much of 2025-2026.

With this conjunction situated at the peak of this triangle and Neptune at the center, there is a lot to contemplate regarding the possibilities that could emerge. In the Astrology of July 2025, I mentioned the following about this favorable conjunction:

So, what are we to make of this fascinating collision of bricks (representing Saturn) and bubbles (symbolizing Neptune)? By contrasting these two distinct forms, we might be able to divine deeper insights into what lies in store for us, both in our personal journeys and within the broader context of societal evolution. Bricks are solid, defined, and contribute to the construction of a larger structure. They serve as the foundational elements that create boundaries, delineate spaces, and establish a framework that, in many ways, restricts and confines. The rigidity of bricks embodies the principles of order, discipline, and stability, often associated with tradition and the established norms of society. They represent the rules and regulations that govern our lives, providing a sense of security but also potentially stifling creativity and spontaneity.

On the other hand, bubbles are transitory, ephemeral, and deeply mystical. They pull on our imagination and invoke a sense of wonder. When light impacts them, they refract and scatter, creating exquisite little rainbows on their delicate surfaces. Bubbles float through the air, free and wild, carrying us with them to places beyond the ordinary, inviting us to dream and explore the limitless possibilities of existence. They symbolize the fluidity of life, the ever-changing nature of our experiences, and the beauty of impermanence. Each bubble could represent the soul, shining brightly in the sun, each one a unique expression of individuality and creativity, only to vanish back into the void from which it emerged.

This juxtaposition of bricks and bubbles invites us to reflect on the balance between structure and freedom, between the tangible and the intangible. It challenges us to consider how we navigate our lives amidst the constraints imposed by societal expectations and the liberating potential of our dreams and aspirations. In this dance between Saturn and Neptune, we are reminded that while the bricks provide us with stability, it is the bubbles that inspire us to reach for the stars, to embrace our imagination, and to pursue our passions without fear of the inevitable transience of life. Ultimately, this collision may reveal the path forward, urging us to find harmony between the solidity of our responsibilities and the fleeting beauty of our dreams.

Adding to the powerful nature of this conjunction, the aforementioned union at 0 degrees of Aries cannot be stressed enough. This unique alignment, if it indeed has never occurred before, raises intriguing questions about what we can expect from its influence. Positioned at one of the four cardinal points in astrology, this conjunction marks the spring equinox, a time that is deeply symbolic in many cultures. The spring equinox signifies the moment when day and night are approximately equal in length, heralding the arrival of spring and the rebirth of nature. It is during this time that the rawest of raw energy is unleashed, representing the point of new beginnings, the emergence of life and spirit, and where everything that is to come is overflowing with endless possibility and potential.

Historical precedents underscore the significance of this conjunction occurring in Aries. Typically, this blend of energies has sparked social revolutions and political upheavals. Saturn and Neptune align approximately every 36 years, symbolizing a conflict between Saturn's authoritarian constraints and Neptune's idealistic visions of community. These planets often clash, resulting in turbulent outcomes influenced by their zodiac sign. The last Aries conjunction in 1703 was marked by water-related disasters, such as tsunamis and cyclones, along with governmental changes, including the ousting of leaders and political faction mergers.

According to this astrologer, the current conjunction's power stems from its occurrence at a midpoint of this mini-grand trine. Midpoints are crucial for revealing subtle, often hidden layers, indicating areas of strength or weakness, and potential for growth or challenges. With this significant Saturn/Neptune conjunction happening at a midpoint, it seems likely that multiple events and themes associated with this uneasy combination will emerge. Furthermore, on September 1st, all involved planets will be in retrograde, with Saturn at the critical anaretic degree of 29 Pisces.

Let's first discuss planets in retrograde motion. Retrograde periods are seen as times for reflection, revisiting the past, and reassessing certain life areas corresponding to the retrograde planet. This may involve reviewing decisions, relationships, beliefs, or strategies, rather than charging ahead. Of further importance the energies of retrograde planets are said to be felt more internally or subjectively. Also, of note in this particular conjunction is the fact that Saturn is at the 29th degree. In astrology, this position is often called the “degree of fate,” “critical degree,” or “the degree of completion.” It marks the very end of a sign’s influence before a planet shifts into the next sign. When at this degree there is an underlying sense of urgency to resolve or finalize matters associated with the energy of that planet and sign before the new cycle (the next sign) begins. Additionally, it’s a powerful point of transition—signaling endings, crises, and sometimes dramatic shifts. The energy is described as being at its peak, often manifesting as a strong desire or necessity for change. Traditionally, the 29th degree is considered to have karmic significance. It can represent issues or themes that feel destined, fateful, or tied to past actions—sometimes requiring closure, completion, or mastery before moving on.

The exact conjunction of Saturn and Neptune at 0 degrees of Aries will occur on February 20, 2026. This rare alignment marks the conjunction at the very first degree of the zodiac, often regarded as the beginning of a new astrological era.

Famous French Astrologer, Andre Barbault said of the Saturn/Neptune conjunction:

"There is a real contrast between the energetic and dramatic duo Jupiter-Uranus, with its affinity to the MC, and the deep nocturnal couple Saturn-Neptune, which is in keeping with the opposite IC, power and prosperity above and misfortune and poverty below. But when the hunger brings the wolf out of the forest, human need increases the collective demands of a frustrated population which has no hope. So, this conjunction is about popular insurrections that are usually fired by ideological beliefs."

On September 5, Uranus in Taurus will station retrograde, marking a significant astrological event that joins other celestial bodies in a mini grand trine, reminiscent of the iconic and fluid movements of Michael Jackson as he seemed to glide backward in time and space. This unique alignment creates a harmonious and dynamic energy that influences our lives in various ways. The Mini Grand Trine signifies a powerful yet subtle interplay of innovation, spiritual insight, and profound transformation—all of which are experienced on a deeply internal or reflective level due to the nature of retrogrades. As Uranus, the planet of rebellion and change, begins its backward journey, we may find ourselves grappling with the energies of innovation and creativity that challenge our existing norms and encourage us to think outside the box.

During this period, we can expect to engage in a process of individual introspection as we navigate through ideological shifts and creative breakthroughs. The energies present during this retrograde will likely prompt us to examine our beliefs, question societal structures, and seek deeper understanding of our personal and collective experiences. This introspective journey may not yield immediate results; rather, it encourages us to delve into the depths of our consciousness, allowing for gradual and insightful breakthroughs that can lead to lasting change.

The retrograde motion of Uranus suggests that the energies associated with this planet will manifest only after we have undertaken significant inner work. This work may involve confronting past traumas, re-evaluating long-held beliefs, and engaging in karmic understanding that allows us to release what no longer serves us. As we revisit and reexamine these aspects of our lives, we may find ourselves better equipped to embrace the innovative changes that Uranus embodies.

This period of reflection is not merely a time of stagnation; instead, it is an opportunity for profound transformation. As we engage with the energies of the mini grand trine, we are encouraged to harness our spiritual insights and channel them into creative expressions. The combination of Uranus in Taurus retrograde with other planetary influences creates a fertile ground for personal growth and societal evolution. As we navigate this cosmic landscape, we may discover new ways to innovate and transform not only our own lives but also the world around us, ultimately leading to a more profound understanding of our place within the universe.

Generational shifts continue to unfold around us, marking a transformative era in which we find ourselves alive at an incredible moment in history. The world as we know it is undergoing profound changes, and these alterations are not merely superficial; they penetrate deep into the core of our beliefs, values, and ways of living. Much of what we have accepted as truth and followed diligently throughout our lives is now up for critical review and reconsideration. This period is characterized by a collective awakening, a time when individuals and societies are prompted to question long-held assumptions and to explore the foundations of their understanding.

As we look ahead to the days to come, we can anticipate the emergence of deep and sometimes uncomfortable questions that will challenge our perceptions and compel us to confront the realities of our existence. The line that separates reality from fantasy is becoming increasingly blurred, akin to a razor-thin margin that can shift at any moment. This phenomenon invites us to engage in introspection and to discern what is genuinely meaningful amidst the noise and chaos of the external world.

This reflection serves as a prelude to my analysis of the astrology of September 2025, and I would like to conclude this first part with an acknowledgment of the significant cosmic events that lie ahead. In my forthcoming installment, I will delve into other important transits for the month, including the Autumnal Equinox, which will be marked by the Sun's movement into the zodiacal sign of Libra on September 22. This event is one of the four cardinal points of the tropical zodiac, symbolizing balance, harmony, and the onset of a new season. As we prepare for these celestial shifts, I encourage you to continue seeking solace within yourself. This inner sanctuary is where we can truly encounter the divine, where we can find stillness amidst the turbulence of change, and where we can uncover the answers to the myriad questions that life poses. It is within this sacred space that we can cultivate clarity and understanding, allowing us to navigate the complexities of this transformative time with grace and wisdom. Embrace this opportunity for growth and renewal as we collectively journey through this pivotal moment in our lives.
