Losing Your Delusions

In the world of astrology, the planet Neptune is associated with delusions, idealization, susceptibility, and putting on the rose-colored glasses. In life, these conditions can be detrimental to our happiness and success, especially when they rise to the level of being resistant to reason or confrontation with the facts. Being in denial, a close cousin of delusion, seems to be a natural tendency that is more often than not, a coping mechanism that can buy us time to wrap our heads around a painful or stressful issue. This in my opinion is the positive phase of denial, but when it persists beyond a certain point, it can have an extremely harmful effect on our lives. Getting real with oneself and practicing radical honesty are vital to becoming more fully self-actualized.
When we look at ourselves through such a lens, it requires leaving a whole lot of baggage at the door, as we step out on a journey that requires us to face fears, wounds, bad decisions, injustices, challenging situations, untimely losses, and a lack of effort on our part. Interestingly, the archetypal energies of Neptune are also related to confusion, deception, gullibility, and self-undoing. These, too, can come into play as we persist with our delusions. The shadow side of all of this being that in order to cope with the incongruities we have created, we seek to escape through a multitude of addictions. These can range from food, alcohol, tobacco, shopping, sex, and even isolation.
At a higher level, Neptunian energy calls upon us to surrender and let go the very delusions it is also responsible for creating. Why would this be? It seems one of laws of the universe is there must be opposites or oppositions in our lives. It’s through experiencing these opposites that we move to a new level of awareness and are able to transcend our disappointment, suffering, and fog, and rise to a level where spiritual awareness brings the clarity we need to deal with life’s challenges. It is truly in the unmasking of our delusions that we in turn dissolve the blocks stunting our growth and progress. I wish for you the courage and power to lose your delusions. We all have them. It is part of this journey. But I promise you when you consciously acknowledge your own unique list, take actions to change, then your transcendence will follow.
