New Moon in Libra
New Moon in Libra

We have a first, the new noon on October 21, 2025, at 28 degrees 21 minutes of Libra remains in the same house of the Aries Ingress chart for 2025, the 8th house. Prior to this, each successive new moon beginning with the one that occurred on March 29, 2025, in Virgo have occurred in a different house. This means that the topics discussed in last month's Lunar Promptings remain in play. And what are those themes?

Themes of the 8th House in Mundane Astrology

  • National debt, loans, and financial obligations: The 8th house governs economic responsibilities a country or city owes to others, including national debt, taxation systems, monetary loans, lines of credit, and revenue from investments.

  • Death, mortality, and funeral practices: It represents the death rate within a nation, how a society treats the deceased, public mortality issues, and related institutions such as hospitals and funeral homes.

  • Shared resources and wealth transfer: This house oversees resources not personally owned but shared or collectively managed, like inheritance, alimony, reparations, and redistribution of wealth.

  • Transformation and crises: The 8th house symbolizes cycles of transformation, crisis, and regeneration on a societal level—things that overhaul systems, power structures, and institutions.

  • Power, hidden influences, and secrets: It reveals inactive or unseen power sources within a collective context, including political intrigues, intelligence agencies, and covert operations.

  • Risks, losses, and taboo subjects: The house is associated with losses—financial or otherwise—and societal taboos such as sexuality, occult matters, and the shadow aspects of collective consciousness.

  • Ritual and societal cohesion: Ritual, both religious and cultural, that unify societies and sometimes subvert individuality falls under this house’s domain. It can reflect forces of control or collective purpose

What has changed since the September 21st new moon that occurred in Virgo at 29 degrees and 5 minutes is not only significant in terms of the modality and element but also in the broader implications for how we understand and engage with these energies. Virgo, as a mutable earth sign, embodies a practical and grounded approach to life, emphasizing the importance of stability, resources, and tangible outcomes. In contrast, Libra, which will be highlighted in the upcoming new moon, is a cardinal air sign, signifying a shift in both the nature and dynamics of energy at play. In the realm of mundane astrology, the concepts of modality and element are essential for interpreting the energetic qualities and behavior patterns expressed not only by astrological signs and planets but also by nations and collective events that unfold on the world stage. Modality, in essence, describes how energy manifests and functions within a given context, while element describes the nature or character of that energy — detailing how it expresses itself qualitatively and influences various aspects of life.

When we contrast the energies that were activated during the new moon in Virgo on September 21st with those being activated by the upcoming new moon in Libra on October 21st, we can observe distinct and profound differences. The earlier new moon in Virgo was imbued with qualities that were practical, material, grounded, and heavily focused on stability, resources, and the management of tangible wealth. Earth signs, such as Virgo, govern critical areas of life including economics, infrastructure, agriculture, and the accumulation of wealth. Furthermore, the mutability of Virgo suggested a period characterized by adaptation, transformation, and transition, reflecting the inherent qualities of mutable signs which represent change, flexibility, and movement from one state to another. This energy typically indicates periods of adaptation, reform, or the diffusion of ideas and beliefs within society. This aligns well with the current focus on reform and the diffusion of innovative ideas surrounding economics and wealth, especially those related to the 8th house, which governs shared resources and transformations.

As we look ahead to the new moon in Libra, it is likely that we will experience a significant shift in this energy. The Libra new moon possesses a natural proclivity towards initiating, pioneering, and activating energy, suggesting a departure from the more introspective and resource-oriented focus of Virgo. Cardinal signs, like Libra, mark the onset of seasons and are associated with leadership, new beginnings, and dynamic change. In the context of mundane astrology, cardinal modalities signal moments of political or social initiative, movements, or turning points that can lead to substantial shifts in public consciousness and action. Additionally, the Air element, which governs Libra, is fundamentally concerned with intellectual, communicative, and social matters. Its influence extends to ideas, diplomacy, legislation, and the construction of social structures, indicating that we might expect new developments and actions to unfold through this lens, potentially reshaping societal norms and expectations.

A new moon positioned in a cardinal air sign like Libra heralds a time during which the potential for assertive, fiery, and reform-based debates and exchanges will rise to new levels. The 8th house, which is associated with foreign trade and investment, economic treaties, and all forms of economic exchange between nations, will be specifically activated. It is critical to recognize that this house also encompasses themes related to death, both in terms of the national death rate and the passing of prominent political figures. Given these implications, we should remain vigilant and observant of how these energies manifest in the world around us. Let us now turn our attention to examining any aspects this new moon might be making to planets or critical angles in the Aries Ingress chart, as these aspects will provide further insights into the unfolding narrative and the potential developments that may arise in the coming weeks.

The most notable feature of the October 21st new moon in relation to the ingress chart is its square to the Aquarius Pluto in the 12th house. This is a significant aspect that warrants attention. As I have mentioned in previous blogs, Pluto is a relatively new addition to astrology, having been discovered by astronomer Clyde Tombaugh at the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona, on February 18, 1930. I have found Pluto to be quite effective in natal astrology, reliably correlating with real-life events in people's lives. However, in mundane astrology, Pluto has its detractors, most notably John Michael Greer. Most contemporary mundane astrologers consider Pluto highly important in world astrology charts, seeing it as a potent symbol of collective transformation, upheaval, death-rebirth cycles, and societal change undercurrents. I share this view.

For me, this aspect serves as a potential warning signal. In its simplest interpretation, Pluto in the 12th house of a mundane astrology chart signifies hidden, transformative, and potentially disruptive forces at work beneath the surface of collective life. This aligns with today's climate, where speculation and accusations of sinister and subversive forces undermining our nation's politics, education systems, and media are widespread and have intensified in recent years. Furthermore, its placement in the 12th house seems to amplify this potential resonance due to the house's association with the criminal underworld and all things secret. It is also noteworthy that this house is where national intelligence agencies are found.

What could this potentially indicate? Squares symbolize antagonistic energy, leading to friction and competition. Consequently, this aspect might suggest a devastating, intense, or destructive event caused by hidden forces acting subversively. With the new moon highlighting 8th house themes, the possibilities seem to lie in this area. Whatever this concealed or disruptive action involves, it is likely connected to our economic relationships with other countries or possibly the targeting of political leaders. This potential should not surprise any of my readers, as these themes and concerns have dominated headlines for most of 2025. The new moon appears to suggest that conditions may be ripe for a turning point.

As we near the end of 2025, I find myself reflecting on our collective experiences so far. In my 2025 Astrological forecast, I named this year "A Mountain Pilgrimage." This title was inspired by the Sabian symbol for the Capricorn Moon at 26 degrees and 43 minutes, as it appeared in the New Year's Day Chart (January 1, 2025, set for Washington DC). Notably, this is also a position of detriment for the moon. As I conclude this blog, I want to revisit what I wrote in that forecast to remind us of the journey we've undertaken this year:

Diving deeper, I wish to explore the realm of astrology known as aspect analysis. The most familiar aspects in astrology are the Ptolemaic aspects, which include the conjunction, square, opposition, sextile, and trine. Similar to the evolution of the wheel, the use of aspects has become more intricate over time. A rare and infrequently discussed aspect pattern, the mystic rectangle, appears in the 2025 chart. A mystic rectangle consists of two oppositions, two sextiles, and two trines. It embodies the concept of fate and suggests predetermined events, important life lessons, karmic connections, and a harmonious blend of energies that can guide individuals toward realizing their potential and fulfilling their destiny. Echoes of a "mountain pilgrimage".

Let's begin with the people. In a mundane chart the people are signified by the Moon. Other meanings include women generally, the masses as a whole, the populace, and public opinion. You will find the Moon located in the 4th house of the above chart which is a very auspicious placement in that this is the house the Moon rules in the natural zodiac; making it powerfully placed. The 4th house in a world or country's chart according to Raphael (a pseudonym of nineteenth century English astrologer Robert Cross Smith (1795-1832) means:

The fourth house is the actual physical land and structures of the nation, from landforms and natural resources to buildings and human-built infrastructure. The fourth house is also weather; planets close to the fourth house cusp can influence the nation’s weather. The fourth also represents the people, as it stands opposite the tenth which is the government. It also signifies the opposition party to the government

The New Year's Day Moon holds significant qualities such as being a new moon, a visionary phase. Here, the moon is dark and unseen, representing an immersion in the collective unconscious and a focus within. It connects to the ancient collective memory, akin to the Fool card in tarot, embarking on trails unknown and embracing new ideas. This phase opens a window to the subconscious world and the collective psyche.

The Moon is also out of bounds, enhancing the visionary nature of the New Moon and its exploration of uncharted paths. A Uranian influence is present, embodying a maverick spirit that defies rules, allowing the New Moon to perceive beyond ordinary consciousness, reaching a state of super consciousness.

Additionally, the Moon is at 26:43 of Capricorn, where it is in detriment. This creates an energy that signifies discomfort and challenges in expressing itself.

The Moon's importance and prominence in the New Year's Day chart are undeniable. It plays a crucial role in one of the oppositions forming a mystic rectangle (discussed later), contributing to an underlying tension present in 2025.

Adding critical depth to a full understanding of the position the people find themselves in as 2025 begins, let's tap into the Sabian symbol for Capricorn 26:43. More on the Sabian Symbols Here: https://sabian.org/sabian_symbols.php

The meaning of Capricorn 27 degrees:

PILGRIMS CLIMBING THE STEEP STEPS LEADING TO A MOUNTAIN SHRINE.

KEYNOTE: The ascent of the individualized consciousness to the highest realizations reached by the spiritual leaders of its culture.

We hear a great deal now about "peak experiences," but this symbol tells us that they depend to a very great extent upon following a path that many have trod before, under the inspiration of the great Teachers and Sages of our race. The shrine is built by the unceasing dedication of perhaps generations of men. The pilgrimage is hallowed by the devotion of many, even though each person finds on their own mountaintop what to them seems a unique and transcendent revelation.

In this second stage symbol we witness the rise of the human consciousness; the preceding symbol spoke of what one may picture as the "descent" of the energies of nature which, like water, flow down toward a lower level of intensity. It is man's supreme task to rise like fire, impelled by a vision they share with their companions. The Keyword: UPREACHING.

The title of this year's astrological forecast is inspired by the Sabian symbol for this year's Moon. This description, combined with the fact that it's a new moon, out of bounds, and in detriment, intensifies the alchemy. Viewed through the lens of mundane astrology, the moon signifies the people, the masses, and the population as a whole. In the new moon phase, the people are poised to rely on their visionary instincts and tap into the collective consciousness, embracing new beginnings, hope, and possibilities.

Being out of bounds, there is a bold step into unknown territory, accompanied by a powerful energy that is maverick and revolutionary. The people are confidently taking matters into their own hands, marching to their own beat. There is a strong sense of empowerment and a rebellious drive to break the rules. Although the moon is in detriment, suggesting the people may encounter resistance in their quest. In 2025, we are coming full circle, returning to our origins—we are pilgrims once more. Transcendence and transformation are dominant themes. We are ascending a mountain with an Aquarian vision of what is possible. Can we reach the summit?

Heightening the intensity is the conjunction of our New Year's Day Moon with Pluto in Aquarius at 01:04. The Moon and Pluto conjoined in the 4th house bring themes of regeneration and transformation. This alignment can indicate a period when people assert their power, organizing to foster improvements and new structures. This theme gains further support because Pluto is now in Aquarius, emphasizing collective and revolutionary change.

And now let's pause for another "gut-check" moment. Pluto signifies the mob psychology and power of the masses. It has to do with regeneration and transformation and if in favorable aspect shows where improvements and better organization can come about. Pluto often shows where there are complications though and may indicate sociological upheavals, power struggles, terrorism or corruption.

May our ascent continue.

May we question everything.

Many blessing to you all.
